Epilepsy Association of North Carolina started in 2019 after Toney Kincaid started a support group in Davidson County. Other counties found out about fund raisers, support group meetings, and parent support meetings. Now there are counties throughout NC, from the mountains to the beach that have joined the Epilepsy Association. Everyone in the Association are volunteers. Either we have epilepsy, a parent of a child with epilepsy, or a person that knows someone with epilepsy. We have meetings in person, or online if we are unable to meet in person. Each county can have a separate fund raiser, but all donations raised goes toward what they had to spend. The rest of donations go to the Association for other fund raisers.
Seizure First Aid Law is touching our hearts because three children we knew had a seizure while at school and passed away. Writing our Senators and Representatives takes time and funding. We want the law, "Sam's Law" Seizure First Aid to be passed so that teachers will understand that there multiple types of seizures and that there are seizures that can kill.

Roxanne Davenport
Roxane and I met through a nonprofit physician, my neurologist. We both want to spread epilepsy awareness. She lives in a different county than I, so this is what started the spread of counties joining our group. Roxanne was voted in as our secretary, taking care of the website, online meeting, etc
