The South Amherst Historical Society is in need of your help to see this project through.   As we have dedicated 2020  to be the "year" of remembering our ladies who have helped to form our village into what it is today,  we were reminded of our Gold Star Mothers, and of how they have been forgotten.  Many of our youth need explanations as to what a Gold Star Mother is.  We have knowledge of having thirteen Gold Star Mothers in our community.  We would like to honor them by obtaining Flag/Markers to be placed at their grave sites.  Many are resting at Evergreen Cemetery  in the Village of South Amherst with a few in bordering communities. We also plan to purchase a Memorial Stone with their engraved names to be placed at the Memorial Garden in Evergreen Cemetery.  A ceremonial program will be offered to the community to attend. Please help us to inform and educate others as to the great  sacrifices these ladies have made......for us.
