Confronting Domestic Violence, Inc. is founded on my personal experience as a survivor of a double attempted homicide (20 years ago).  I was 8 months pregnant and my attacker was the father of our unborn baby.  I had just moved 1200 miles away from home, voluntarily leaving my job, school, apartment, friends, and family. I also transferred my 8 year old to a new school during spring break.

There were no signs of violence, otherwise, I would not have left everything to move and grow a family. Abandoned by my own mother, left in the violent environment she escaped from, gave me the strength to break that link when I had my first child.  So coming from an upbringing of violence, going through teenage dating violence, neighborhood violence..... to having my world flipped upside down in my late 20's and finding myself helpless, homeless, at risk, and by doctor's orders stuck... I was feeling really stupid! Today, I am very familiar with the power and control wheel, and know what narcissism is.

The ability to receive help within 24 hours is scarce.  I stood in long lines and on hold all day seeking shelter, food, housing, emergency assistance, anything. It wasn't until 18 months later that I was blessed to be connected with one person (DV Advocate) that changed my life and gave my little family a second chance at having a safe future.

Along the way, I've helped lobby a few legislative bills specifically around public safety and privacy and worked directly with Internal Affairs as a mayoral appointee.   Professionally - I am a previous owner of a Security Consulting firm providing various organizations leadership in developing Security programs around Critical Infrastructure, Human Behaviors, Access Control, Emergency response, and Business Continuity.

With the last 20 years of boots on the ground. navigating through uncharted waters for many, I've learned a great deal and created this 501c3 with a mission and a vision:
