Thank you for your donation! The RAREsies Rule/Ollier's Disease Educational Scholarship Program has selected a wonderful young lady in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ollier's disease (enchondromas) affects the cartilage and bones, the limbs often have length discrepancies. Fractures, several surgeries, and 2-3 rounds of bone lengthening procedures is what is usually expected. All this at a very young age, anywhere between 3 and 17 years old. Most RAREsie Ollier Warriors have a lift on one shoe. Unfortunately being teased, bullied, shun upon is part of our world.

The 1st recipient of our RR/ODC Educational Scholarship is a young lady in Toronto, Ontario, Canada! She is about to have her second leg lengthening, which takes approximately 8 weeks. RR/ODC would like to ensure this young lady has a secure future, and that her parents are at ease knowing this.  Our 1st US recipient is Bryce from Dudley, MA.

Your donation will provide a $10,000 Educational Scholarship, (in a field of her/his choice, in an approved educational school program), which will help her/him begin her/his next steps in life.

As a patient advocate, coming from years of being a guinea pig at a very early age, several surgeries, being in and out of the hospital,  my experiences have provided me with years of knowledge surrounding this disease. Supporting families is a priority as I do not want them going down the path of Social Services.  As a person who is living 'in the system', I know the struggles, the missed opportunities, lack of guidance, and money, due to having a rare disease/disability. Instead I was placed within a government grid. Like a foster child going from home to home.

My fight is  for you and your child. I am older now, it is my time to give back. Changes must be made, voices must be heard, and RAREsies must Never Give Up.

Keep Smiling,

JOANNE

It's donation time! May it be $5, or $225, it all adds up at the end. We need your support. This is our first campaign for educational scholarships, I will admit it will take time, but why wait? Our first awardees, Angelina (Canada), and Bryce (US). Stay tuned as we support their journey. Warriors!
