Bolt of Lightning commits to creating and promoting a sense of community and combat juvenile delinquency by fostering mentorship, promoting equality in athletics, and increasing access to competitive sports for youth in the Twin Cities metro community and its environs.

Our goal is to foster that development for youth aged eighteen (18) years of age or younger through competitive sports. Teaching proper safe techniques and ethical practices, and providing opportunities for competitive play, Bolt of Lightning training encouraging effective communication, cooperation and sportsmanship, developing the value and self-esteem of each individual participant; and creating an atmosphere where inclusiveness, accountability and learning respect are valued.

Coach Jon Rummels began his coaching career in 1993 at Springfield Lanphier High School in Springfield Illinois. He was the sprint coach at Lanphier for 15 seasons. During his tenure, the sprinters set school records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 300 intermediate hurdles, 4x100 relay, and 4x200 relay. The team also had multiple state champions and set a state record in the indoor 4x200 relay.Coach Jon arrived in Minneapolis in 2008 and started training athletes with Coach Up.
