"LetsTalkPPCM” will follow the lives of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy patients and their families.
In the maternal near-miss world for 5-7 months as they navigate the unfamiliar territory and uncertainty of being a new mother while having a pregnancy-induced condition.
We hope to capture every moment and reaction in real-time, including some of the births and how the young adult mothers and fathers deal with new parenthood after a maternal near miss.
The series tackles a variety of issues including medical appointments, disability, organ donation, marriage, adoption, IVF, surrogacy, mental health, etc. Cameras will continue to follow the patients for a significant time after any births to show how the families cope with taking care of their infants/children in addition to balancing adult responsibilities with an unexpected medical condition.
The show will provide an honest portrayal of the challenges of pregnancy, parenthood, and many life changes. The stories in 'LetsTalkPPCM' are full of hope, heartbreak, and real-life consequences. It should be a must viewing for mothers and fathers nationwide.
We are creating viewing guides for each episode so educators, key organizations, and individuals can use the show, which will be available rights-free for distribution, as a platform to have an honest discussion around sexual health and pregnancy with teens, and adults.
This project will reach out to thousands of individuals and organizations across the country that work in education, health, and sex education to promote the show and its resources. We will also launch an online resource to support the show at letstalkppcm.org, to answer viewers’ most commonly asked questions surrounding pregnancy and provide people with the information they need to be fully informed on this topic.
With the high incidence of unintended pregnancy, unexpected pregnancy complications, or sexually transmitted diseases it's more important than ever to reach young people where they are and with messages that resonate. Through our longstanding marketing with Facebook and Instagram, we reach hundreds of thousands of viewers every day with programming and other content to help increase much-needed awareness.
Thank you all to those who believe in our vision, and will help make this goal a reality! Donations of $100+ gives you a chance to win your own "reason why you support" short film.
