P.I. Kids started in 2018 as a pilot program. It is an "inclusive" after school program where children of ALL abilities are welcome to participate. We focus on three areas, Therapeutic Activities (Art Therapy, Music Therapy, etc.,) to help some of our kids manage and express their feelings and emotions. We incorporate a movement portion such as Karate, Dance and Yoga to work on releasing energy and learn how to calm our bodies. Lastly, we focus on social skills and acceptance. We talk about differences in physical abilities, cognitive abilities, social abilities and tolerance through various game playing and group discussions.
Kids with all types of abilities such as ADHD, Down syndrome, Autism, Anxiety, PTSD from losing a parent, or kids who are just extremely shy are all a part of P.I. Kids. They work and play together and support each other. This has been such an incredible positive experience for all of our kids, our parents, our staff and our high school mentors. P.I. Kids is a safe, fun environment where ALL kids can belong and be a part of a group.
Our program has become a necessity for most of our kids and keeping it going is in jeopardy as we purposely do not charge our parents enough money to cover our overhead. My husband and I have been putting up our own money, but now we need your help. Our biggest expense is our amazing Director, our experienced partners, rental fees from the school and overhead costs such as insurance.
Our expenses for running this program during the 2019-2020 school year is about $40,000. With fees from parents and some light fundraising, we have collected about $9,000. We are planning a fundraiser for the spring but we need at least $10,000 to keep our program running through early spring and about $20,000 through the end of the year. We are also considering running a summer camp program which will be a high expense as we look to rent a venue.
The kids are benefitting from our program and we have helped so many of them feel included, better understand their emotions and that it's ok to be different!
Please consider Project Inclusion & P.I. Kids when making donations and know you are helping these kids be successful in their school environment, their social environment and in feeling more confident.

Project Inclusion, Inc. / P.I. Kids
Rachel and her husband Rob started Project Inclusion, Inc. in 2018 to advocate for children of ALL abilities. When their daughter Maggie was in school, there were not any after school programs she was able to attend because of her diagnosis of Down syndrome, because of P.I. Kids, now there are.
I want all the kids to have after school.
I absolutely love P.I. Kids and want to it to be accessible for every kid who needs it.
Thank you, Rachel and Rob, for spearheading this wonderful program!
Thank you PI Kids for everything you do for our kids!

Rachel, we've not met yet, but I know about your mission through my friend Rob. Amazing what can be accomplished when enough kind souls get behind a cause. This is for your Maggie... and all her peers! Sally and I send best wishes and thanks for all you a
I am a big believer in helping special needs children and currently volunteer at child mind institute. I also worked with Rob in the past and send my best to this full endeavor.
