The Afri-Female Institute, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) agency that was established in 1998 to address the needs of at-risk girls and their families who are impacted by socio-economic risks. Our girl's range in age from 8-18 years old. The Afri-Female Institute, Inc. has been providing free care, counseling, tutoring and mentoring to children for over twenty years. Many of these children come from broken or abusive homes. Our organization is a safe haven for them, whenever they need it. Our mission is to build purpose, character, and empower youth by providing guidance in achieving their goals.
Through Mentoring, we address Life Skills Training, Education, Economic Development, Crime, Family and Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship. We provide guidance, supportive mentoring relationships, and prevention programs that channel their talents and energies into constructive, skill building activities. The girls attend private, public, and parochial schools. Our girls come from diverse cultural, economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds. Membership is open to any who live in Delaware Kent or Sussex County who wish to achieve the goals of the institute. We mentor twenty-five to thirty girls and their families each year.
This year, the institute will implement a Mental Health Awareness Fair. The Program will spread mental health
awareness by reaching out to communities where people are underserved. This program will also serve to educate teens
and families on how they think of others who deal with mental health
issues.
