According to Merriam-Webster.com, the
definition of a “lost art” is as follows: something usually requiring some
skill that not many people do anymore. It is often said that the practice of hand-writing
letters has become a lost art with the advent of email and other technological
advances. As with letter writing, there are many other practices that we call
“life skills” that also have become lost arts because they are no longer being
taught in schools or in the home, if anywhere at all. That is the need that
Lost Arts Academy wants to fill.
Lost Arts Academy was formed on April 26, 2022, with the foundational mission to improve the future of disadvantaged and/or underserved youth and adults by providing life skills training, financial education, and personal/professional development resources at no cost. This mission will be accomplished by delivering programs and resources that will provide exposure to and opportunities for learning and practicing a myriad of “lost arts” focused on personal and financial wellness, holistic education, and community involvement. The ultimate goal is that these lost arts become common knowledge that is taught from generation to generation and are no longer considered lost.
