Nationally and locally both in private and public schools, today’s students are not performing at academic proficiency. This is particularly the case when it comes to how students perform in math across the board. Despite intense accelerated interventions, designed to affect those who are not proficient, little progress has been made to move this needle in the right direction.
In addition, reduction in per pupil state aid has affected music programs in the public schools resulting in students not able to explore and cultivate their capabilities. Every child should have access to the tools necessary to academically succeed in math. There is much research that students that proves that students who have access to music perform better in math. .
