This year we will launch our fundraising campaign for our Literacy Lounge-365 Days of Literacy Instruction and Training. Your donation will allow our early intervention and prevention services to help address components of the importance of literacy to economic development. Our economy is enhanced when learners have higher literacy levels. Effective literacy skills open doors to more educational and employment opportunities so that people are able to pull themselves out of poverty and chronic underemployment. We are contacting you on behalf of Buffalo’s Concerned for Youth, Inc., and the fund-raising team to request your support in the form of a tax-deductible donation.
Buffalo’s Concerned for Youth, Inc., (BC4Y), mission is to create a safe learning environment which will help to re-shape and re-educate families, youth, and communities to eliminate the reproduction and redevelopment of “at risk” families, youth, and communities. We feel this will ensure a healthy home, school engagement, and communities that value youth. Helping someone to read and write effectively or acquire the basic math skills so many of us take for granted, improves the future of everyone in society. Literacy is critical to economic development as well as individual and community well-being.
We are asking for your support this year by giving a tax-deductible donation to Buffalo’s Concerned for Youth, Inc. We work very hard to provide our programs and services, and especially for our Literacy Lounge-365 Days of Literacy Instruction and Training. According to Literacy Matters (2010) “Conversely poor literacy can lead to the risk of exclusion for some individuals and some social groups. A good example of this is youth crime rates that can be directly tied to poor economic and social outcomes.”
Without intervention, many of these “at risk” youth and their families ultimately become added burdens to their over burden, high crime and poverty-stricken communities. We hope that we can count on you to help support our, Literacy Lounge-365 Days of Literacy Instruction and Training.
