Since 1969, the Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services, Inc has been providing senior and family services to our community using the largest volunteer base in Kenosha. Last year, we introduced the Home Repair Program. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Kenosha and local area contractors, we were able to attend to the repair needs of over 30 homeowners at no cost to them! We believe that everyone deserves to live in their own home for as long as it is safe and possible. Our volunteers added grab bars, porch rails, new entryways, new stairs, fixed dangerous interior, and exterior areas, and even built accessibility ramps. We also provided hundreds of hours of lawn care and snow removal. All donations are used to keep the program operating and for the purchase of materials and tools. The homeowner is never charged for the service.

As people age, we know they prefer to age in place - in the homes they've loved, where they raised their children, and where they are most comfortable. Often, seniors and disabled people living on limited income will let minor repairs go unattended resulting in those repairs becoming major over time or even making the home uninhabitable. Our goal? Address these repairs early so the homes do not fall into disarray and help people age in place safely.
