#How are your Nonprofit aiding COVID-19 related cases?
The world has, in recent months, been strike and paralyzed by the coronavirus pandemic, leaving a dark shield of uncertainty, therefore, burying the aspirations of billions of the world populations. But sometimes the most disastrous circumstances inspire the birth of brilliance. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Action Oriented Youth of Liberia was struck hard, with nearly all of our plans we initially had for the year coming to a halt. In light of this, we realized that all the world, all that we as a people have right now is each other, we as humans looking out for one another. So we decided as a nonprofit organization to carry out awareness about the Corona Virus in targeted communities because we believe that access to the right information is one of the essential factors in surviving and conquering this virus.
After our first meeting on how best to carry out the awareness, we decided not only to carry out awareness but provide a little aid to underprivileged families we encountered in the field. And was how the idea of “Just rice and awareness” was born. We had initially targeted providing at least ten households with one bag( of rice(25kg) and detergents, but after launching our campaign on Facebook, CashApp, and PayPal, we were able to raise exactly $1000, enabling us to extend the aid to 65 households. The sheer smile from the children and families as they received the little we could offer was the biggest reward we could ever ask off. With the world, and Liberia, in particular, facing the direst economic circumstances now, food is quite essential as most families are not able to go about their normal activities of earning a living. Looking at our present progress, we have set up to serve ten underprivileged communities with an estimated population of 20,000 households. We started it and fully bearing in mind that with your help, we can go way beyond our expectations. Our arms are open to receiving your support. The world needs a change so, let the change start with Action-Oriented Youth of Liberia and You.
