SACS staff has been working hard to help families in their time of need. Under new management, we are touching more lives than ever before. With growth often comes growing pains. We are making efforts to improve the shelter and our services in a variety of ways. We are striving to reduce costs while increasing efficiency and security. With all this growth in services comes a growth in funding needs.
We have an eight bed capacity and several of the mattress sets are in poor condition and need replaced. The women and children in the shelter are happy just for a safe place to sleep, but a better nights rest leads to a brighter outlook on life and the hope of a better future. Our mattress covers and bedding also are in need of replacement. Prevention of infestation needs to be addressed as fixing the problem is much more expensive than preventing one!
We are upgrading our security system with cameras to increase safety inside and out. Security for the shelter means safety for the community and a decrease in our insurance costs.
We are providing more resources and support to those in shelter as well as serving more people within the community. We are providing assistance with everything from transportation, referrals, and food to helping those facing eviction by making past due utility and rent payments.
We have also reached the point that we need to hire at least one employee to help meet the needs of the shelter on a permanent basis. We are adding jobs to the community. As we continue to grow, we foresee the need to add even more paid positions. We love our volunteers and they are the heart and soul of SACS, but dedicated employees are necessary to the continuation and growth of this level of service to our community.
By opening your heart, you will become a part of the change you want to see in your community. Your gift provides so much more than food and housing. It provides Hopeful, Peaceful, Independent, Strong Families which are the building blocks of Strong Communities.
