We exist to assist in the growth and development of the skills and insight of the young women in our community so that they will, in turn, have a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. The OverComers Network, Inc. encourages a model of fellowship and mentorship that builds multigenerational relationships that mutually enhance the connectedness, the improvement, and the preservation of the community-at-large.

The OverComers Network has been a community service entity (this is our first year as a state-recognized Non-Profit Organization), we have completed numerous outreach programs within the Laurel, Mississippi community and serviced hundreds of residents within our great city. Although we have made the work that we do our priority and neglected to capture many detailed photos of our work over the years,  Two of our biggest outreach projects from last year are our Homeless and Cancer Patient care packages. Twice yearly, The OverComers Network utilizes our organizational dues and other financial donations to our organization to purchase items for both our homeless population, as well as those diagnosed cancer patients who are in the process of undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatments to combat the illness that has tried to ravish their lives. Our homeless care packages consist of blankets, socks, t-shirts, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bars of soap, face and bath towels, paper towels, toilet paper, non-perishable snack items, water, hand sanitizer, reading literature, and more. Our cancer patients' care packages included blankets, socks, paper towels, non-perishable and doctor-approved snack items, water, hand sanitizer, reading literature, and more.

The OverComers Network Inc. prides itself in serving our community. Statistics show that 31.3% of the residents living within our fine community have an income below the poverty line. As a civic organization, we would like to select our participants from the only public high school in our community, Laurel High School, during this 2022-2023 school term. It is our desire to implement a mentoring program entitled “Young Women OverComing Challenges” (YWOC) that will service both young and older women in our community. The YWOC mentoring program plans to service approximately 40 young women per semester, accepting 20 at-risk, low-income, and/or other female students especially selected by the consensus of both school counselors and administrators who attend Laurel High School. As a future partner of the School system, we will meet with these young women and their mothers (or mother figures)  for culminating activities, student-led service projects [SLSP Serve Days], and an end-of-program [EOP] Day Trip to a culturally and educationally relevant destination of our program participant’s choosing [from an approved listing]. We, the OverComer’s Network, Incorporated are requesting approximately $5000 dollars worth of capital to utilize for all start-up costs associated with piloting our FIRST YWOC mentorship program. We would count it as both an honor and a privilege if you choose The Overcomer’s Network, Inc. to bless our organization with the financial resources that would enable us to sufficiently help to serve our community well.
