For the tens of thousands of Jamaicans that live below the poverty line, the lack of basic living conditions is their reality. Meet Kamoya, a single mom of 5 who lives in rural St. Andrew in a home which is substandard in many ways. Not only is the space very small, but they do not have a secure roof, the kitchen and bathroom are essentially outdoors, lack basic fixtures, and are without plumbing and running water. Kamoya works with the government as a street sweeper, a job which has very low compensation despite the labor involved. She goes to work very early in the morning whilst having to ensure that her children are taken care of. Although her earnings are low, she does her best to make ends meet. Since the pandemic, the schools have been closed for in person learning and this has affected her kids' education.
The living conditions as they are currently, could negatively impact health, safety, and wellbeing. The children in particular would benefit from a home that is more comfortable and conducive to learning and development while they are out of school.
Your donation to this campaign would go towards building a modest two-bedroom home which will be constructed with assistance from partnerships.

Georgianna is a neurologist by profession, who is passionate about service and making an impact on the lives of others. Learning of devastating living conditions in communities in rural St Andrew Jamaica prompted her to take action.
