We need your help! There are currently NO VA funded programs in the City of Detroit or Southeastern Michigan for homeless female Veterans with children.  The only options for these veterans is to be separated from their children or find a community shelter . 65% of the female Veterans in our facility once slept in their car or on a couch for some period of time to ensure they stay connected with their children.  Homelessness is painful, but separation from their children is devastating for the parent and the child. We want to keep women and children together as they begin the process of regaining stable and permanent housing.

Many of our homeless women veterans were victims of military sexual trauma and feel resentment towards the military and the VA. Homeless women veterans tend not to fit the stereotype of your normal homeless person living on the streets.  Many have children and tend to temporarily stay with family or friends.  Homeless female veterans were instilled with a sense of self-reliance and pride from their military experience. The are  often the caregivers for their children and have a very hard time asking for help. We want to be the place where these families can gain peace of mind and feel safe and supported

Homeless Female Veterans Get Housing

Mena Davis, on behalf of

All Things Women, Inc

There should never be a term Homeless Veteran. Our Veterans should be supported during and after service to our nation. This campaign was created to solicit support for our Transitional Housing for Homeless Female Veterans. This is a personal mission for me. Any contribution is appreciated.
