Hello! My name is Patricia Gazzillo and I’m an 80-year-old widow looking for help. My husband passed away 30 years ago and I’ve always done my best to remain independent without asking for help or handouts. This is because I’ve have four wonderful sons who are always available to help me, as they all had high-paying jobs in the aerospace industry.
During the past 30 years, my sons have had a difficult time of helping me due to being laid off and accepting lower pay. The past five years have been extremely difficult for me: my oldest son, Peter; was diagnosed with type two diabetes and was unable to work. During this time, I was diagnosed with emphysema and have been limited in terms of mobility. Peter has assisted me by driving me to my doctor appointments and, when able, by helping me around the house.
During the first few years following Peter's diagnoses, he did not work and I was helping him pay bills with my limited income, which is made up of my husband's pension and social security. We took a reverse mortgage on my house to help pay off bills and try to get ahead. Finally, Peter received some good news: he received disability from the state, money of his own. This helped a lot.
Unfortunately, in February of this year (2017), Peter passed away from a sudden heart attack. Peter did not have any life insurance, and the funeral cost was enormous. My other three sons came through to help, but with the cost of service and their own finances, we’ve been buried in debt.
I’ve tried everything I could think of to get out of this hole and to pay my bills, but I have found that I don’t qualify. I’m seeking $100,000 (though my goal for this campaign is only $25,000) to pay off the lien on my house, the walk-in tub that I installed to help with Peter’s nerve damage and the heating and air-conditioning unit I installed to help with my breathing.
I would like to thank all of you in advance for all your help. God bless you.

Patricia Gazzillo is trying to raise funds to help her get back on track after the passing of her son, Peter, who used to help her with her finances.
