We are a  non-profit agency whose mission is to help to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable people by addressing the underlying causes of poverty so that they can become self-sufficient and capable of achieving their full potential.

This project brings into partnership the Houston Independent School District, and the Sisters of Charity.   The Sister's of Charity has a mission to Brookdale Village Apartments as their effort to provide a helping hand to the residents by opening Casa San Jose to provide services.  Currently, they are feeding the children who reside there a breakfast, a lunch, and a snack through a program with the Houston Food Bank.  These are from typically under-served populations and specifically children left on their own throughout the day while parents or parent works.

We propose to use the funding for providing technology for the sole purpose of having them catch up with their school work because of school closures due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  We are working with HISD to have access to the students for tutoring and helping them with their assignments that they need to submit to teachers.  We hope to continue this program in a long term capacity continuing to help students who are predominantly LEP or Limited English Proficient.
