3WaterColors is more than a local non-profit (501c3); it is a passion. A passion that was formulated from my personal history. For me to convey what 3WaterColors does and means, I need first to explain why I created this organization. I was that child, abused, neglected, and always hungry. I know firsthand the confusion and heartache these children are going through - wondering if they will be safe, fed, and even clothed. My mother was always so cruel. She would call me names (including racial slurs). I am mixed race. There was a general disregard for my life and safety. There were emotional games that were played with me. I suffered different types of abuse from her and the company she kept It was unbearable and it broke my spirit. Every day for me was uncertain. I felt as though I didn't exist. I couldn't understand why my life was this way. I was so young. To this day the memories overwhelm me, even after many years of counseling. The thoughts still bring tears to my eyes.

This abuse continued from the time I was born until I was twenty-two years of age. Due to the chaos, I never got the proper medical help I needed. I remember always being so sick. After years of counseling, I now understand why. I would be so hungry that I would eat raw bacon, sausage, and pasta. I also didn't get 8 hours of sleep. Sometimes I would only get 2 hours a night. I was still expected to get up and walk to school. My daily life consisted of name-calling, yelling sadness, confusion, hand-me-downs, and being scared In addition to my abusive home life, I was also called names by the children and adults in my town, due to my mixed race. I didn't have any friends.

Then a simple act of kindness changed my life. It sparked something in me. The school nurse and teacher made me feel alive. They actually saw me! The nurse would give me clothing from the lost and found and personal hygiene items. One of my teachers would always give me a BIG hug and ask me if I was okay or hungry. I remember this teacher would always stay in for lunch and sit with me. Something so simple, but GRAND in my eyes. Those were the best six hours of my life. When I went on to middle school, another teacher helped. She would buy me clothes, hygiene products, and school supplies. She was even my emergency contact on my school paperwork. I lived with her for a few months after she received a phone call from the police about my well-being.

From experience, I can see the signs of children in need. I know that by giving these kids a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing.

3watercolosrs wants to give them that SPARK!

Currently, our organization works on three programs

1. Feeding 300 families twice a week during summer break from school.

2. Helping Sex Trafficking victims with essentials such as clothing and mentoring from our founder.

3.  We work with a local high school, where we mentor, feed the homeless students, offer a big sister program, school supplies, clothes, hygiene products, groceries, and jackets.

Your donations will help support these programs and change children's lives. Thank you!
