It's hard to think about children playing in their community
and becoming victims of a drive-by shooting or victims of human trafficking.
Unfortunately, that is a reality for children in the community we serve.
According to The Statewide Automated Child, Welfare Information System (SACWIS)
thirty-three children under 18 years were victims of human trafficking in
Ohio. In 2021, crimes involving guns
against children under 18 have increased in Columbus, Ohio. However, without the opportunity to have
positive community involvement, fun close to home after-school activities, and
develop STEAM skills outside of school hours those children are at great risk
of living at or below the national poverty level and that means struggling
throughout life to survive. Ohio Youth
Development needs your help to protect children in their communities, to
provide a safe community space where they gain skills to thrive and learn to
care about the community, they live in.
Thank you for caring.
