Mental Health is one of the most talked about health related issues today.
• 46% of people who die by suicide have a diagnosed mental health condition
• Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10 – 34
• Every 11 seconds someone takes their life
As the leading national nonprofit suicide prevention organization SAVE has been at the forefront of suicide prevention and suicide grief support for 30 years. And, one of SAVE's greatest resources is their website – over 200,000 people from around the world visit their site each month – that’s over 2 million people a year.
Cleary, SAVE is the best organization to be there for people in the worst possible moments of their life. No one would ever imagine having to need a place like SAVE, but when they do, they are forever thankful that they are there.
As the newly appointed Brand Ambassador, I was surprised to learn SAVE had never done any real fundraising; in prior years they were always able to “get by” with grants and in-kind donations. However, that is no longer the case.
Again, the public's need and demand for more assistance along with educational materials have surpassed SAVE’s current ability. To help SAVE achieve these needs, we must raise a minimum of $1 million dollars.
The goal here is to make sure that SAVE is always there for people, businesses and communities around the world, with what they need, when they need it and how they want it to help them through the greatest tragedy that could have ever happened.
