Our veterans served our country and earned these benefits. We, as taxpayers, contribute with our hard earned dollars to support our veterans with pride and love. The funds from Washington should come to providers like McKinley Community Care Center in a timely manner to provide these services to our veterans. McKinley Community Care Center provides care to seniors who require care during the day while providing respite care to their families. A day at McKinley gives them socialization, activities, outings, great meals, medical oversight, and a fun day full of love. We are a Medical Model Adult Day Services.

I have chosen to continue to provide services out of my pocket to our veterans with a grace period until August 9th in hopes to rectify this matter with the Veterans Administration, an ongoing issue that we have dealt with for 10 years. And the saga continues.

I want to be clear: this is not a judgement on the Veterans Administration, they provide a wonderful service. Its the process that is broken.

Is this how we treat people? Seniors, Taxpayers, Caregivers, Small Business Owners?

These are real families, real heroes, and often times they are the most vulnerable because they cannot communicate their needs. They are relying on a system that is broken. I have injected my personal money and maxed out my line of credit to carry these services for veterans over the last 120 days with an outstanding balance from the Veterans Administration reimbursement of $122,000. With humility, I am here fighting for our veterans and their families to provide a voice for those that cannot speak for themselves.

Our campaign is for $105,000 which will carry veterans for 90 days to bridge that gap with no interruption in services.

At our center, this affects 26 families with the potential of 3-5  jobs being lost due to lack of work due to losing 26 participating in our program.  This may sound like small numbers but it impacts real lives. This affects more than just food on the table for many.

Their caregivers are real people with real jobs with real lives. They are  juggling jobs,  caring for their loved one as all of us do. Help me find solutions to continue providing care as well as peace of mind an respite to their caregivers.

Our seniors and veterans at McKinley Community Care Center needs your help! I have been a  lending institution to our funding sources and have chosen to continue finding ways to provide this service despite getting reimbursement in a timely manner.  I am a single mom, a business owner, and a community advocate, they deserve better. We all deserve better.

Is this what the men and women fighting for our country today have to look forward in  their future?

I do not accept that! ALL seniors, veterans, caregivers, families, and staff deserve better. We all deserve better.

I care, do you?

I love my time being there at the day care. It gives me something to look forward too. I have met a lot of good people there at Mckinley. It is a great benefit for the veterans. We have a place to come to and be able to share our stories with each other.
