Harrington Arts Alliance (HAA) in Loveland, Colorado, was created to enhance and improve the overall psychological well-being of children and young adults in Northern Colorado, by striving to build confidence and self-esteem through creative outlets. We focus on reaching abused or at-risk children in order to help them thrive and grow in the performing arts, and enable them to take advantage of new opportunities that would not otherwise be afforded them. HAA has been in existence for five years and has an excellent reputation in Larimer County, which includes Loveland and Fort Collins, and extends up to the Wyoming border. We serve approximately 450 students in our year-round programs. About 60% of these students are at-risk. Our staff has a close relationship with Thompson School District counselors, and SummitStone, our county-wide mental health and substance abuse agency, which means we receive referrals and can conduct outreach to specific troubled youth to offer them in-depth, creative after school activities. Through our programs they learn to act, sing, and dance in full scale musical and dramatic productions, as well as function in technical and business aspects of theatre arts. We produce 12-15 theatrical performances a year, and perform at a variety of local civic events as a community service. Our productions are advertised to the public and we sell tickets for our 170 seat theater. We pride ourselves on providing quality instruction at minimal fees and free therapeutic services such as mental health workshops by a licensed counselor.
When we opened HAA in 2011, we had to purchase a used light board from the 1990's. We are in desperate need of a new light board to help enhance our productions and make the actors and staff feel elevated on stage.
Our students deserve reliable lighting to help them shine on stage.
A new light board is $10,000.
