The Comfort Home Place, Inc. is a registered 501c3
organization focused on RESPONDING, RESCUING, and RELOCATING victims of domestic violence with the help of IPD, and
also providing a transitional shelter for homeless veterans.
As a non-profit organization, we humbly request $10,000 in fundraising to push
forward with our mission of reducing the rate of domestic violence, and
homelessness in the city of Indianapolis. As we collaborate with professional
associates such as; Extended Stay, Motel 6, Budget 8 Hotels, etc. to provide a
temporal shelter for these underserved individuals for a specific period of
time, till they attain stability.
The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV)
indicated in October of 2020 that because of the 2020 Pandemic and continuing
to date, domestic violence rates are up to 86%, and unfortunately related deaths
were up by 85% in Indiana. There were 94% assault patients in June 2020
compared to 60% in June 2019, according to (IACDV, 2021). DVN also reported
that in 2020 one agency had to deny shelter to 2,189 victims between late 2019
and 2020.
The latest stats, according to the Homeless and Intervention program indicated
that it’s impossible to get an exact number of homeless people because
homelessness takes on so many forms and can happen at any given time from day
to day. Nevertheless, in Marion County the ‘2020 count of homelessness was
roughly 1,588 or more on any given night” says Holly Hays of the Indianapolis
Star, and people of color made up of over half of the homeless population.
(Hays,2021)
The above concept of RESPONDING,
RESCUING, and RELOCATING these
victims will allow them to separate from the perpetrator and relocate to a safe
environment until transitioning to a longer-term facility, while we continue to
build funding to purchase a building; whereby, we will teach the victims to
become independent by referring victim for therapy and assisting with
employment, alongside spiritual encouragement. Seeing that according to
National Domestic Hotline, it is reported that most victims return to their
abusers because of economic dependency, fear, lack of confidence, and low self-esteem.
In the meantime, after receiving funds from this fundraiser, funds will be used to temporarily place the domestic violence victims into a safe haven such as a hotel, motel, etc, for emergency cases.
Practically, the funds will be used for acquiring office equipment, emergence
hotel accommodation, business insurance of The Comfort Home Place, Inc., hiring
of a part time accountant, program director, and supplies for daily business
operations.

The Comfort Home Place is a subsidiary of The First Night program. We assist domestically abused women and children with getting into a safe haven, personal items, clothing, and referrals when escaping emergency domestic situations. This includes helping veterans also. Seeing that domestic abuse is on the rise, our ultimate goal is to obtain a building and capital to assist the victims in several other beneficial ways. We are presently serving the community by supplying personal items, clothing, food, support group, and referrals to safety.
