Grim Community Outreach, INC was founded by Nadine L Meekins.
Being a medical care giver working in the Emergency Room and discharging patients from the hospital, I noticed there was an ongoing issue with homelessness and a drastic increase in homelessness during the Pandemic. People were running out of sources and some sources were limited to a certain criteria. I knew there was something I needed to do to help even if I had to do all the work on my own.
MISSION
Our mission is to help homeless individuals achieve health and self-sufficiency.
VISION
To be recognized as a leader in breaking the cycle of homelessness in Greater
Charlotte and beyond.
ORGANIZATION
Grim Community Outreach was established to help unhoused individuals in
Mecklenburg County achieve stability and housing through a holistic approach. Grim
Community Outreach provides food, temporary shelter and comprehensive support
services.
There are many misconceptions about homelessness:
False: Homelessness is a choice
False: People without homes don’t want to work
False: People without homes have some other housing options
Transitioning from homelessness requires an approach to housing, health, and
wellbeing that places the individual at the center of their own uplift by providing resources, support and training. Our Services provided will consist of a healthy meal and educational referrals to all State agencies. We are striving to make a change.

Nadine has been valuable to her nursing staff while being in the nursing field for over 20 years. Her compassion that she has shown towards people has earned her The Values Of Integrity Award from our Hospital and plenty other accolades to go along with just being a genuine person. Feeding the Homeless has always been her 1st priority and giving back to her community has always been her goal. Grim Community Outreach has been Blessed with a GREAT leader and a influential woman.
