The Polk Institute Foundation is a non-profit graduate level training and technical institution that grants a master level certificate in entrepreneurship and that operates the Polk Institute Accelerator, a program designed to provide additional resources for the development, refinement and launch of new businesses.  The Institute’s founder, Mr. Gary Polk, is a black businessman, university professor, and author, and CEO/Business consultant.

Our goal is to expose social entrepreneurship as a viable career option and method to find true financial freedom to our targeted  clients - underrepresented minorities.  Our clients are serious about wanting to own a business.  Admission requirements include preparing and presenting a one-page business plan.

We believe ethical behavior AND generating profits are not conflicting concepts.  Our motto for social entrepreneurship is PPP – People, Planet, and Profit…also known as the Triple Bottom Line.  We believe that ALL entrepreneurial ventures should be purpose-driven and represent the passion of the Founder.

Program Highlights:

US students eligible for full scholarship
Institute funded through government, corporate and foundation grants and public/private donations.
Open to clients with life experiences and undergraduate degrees.
Facilitators will be the business leaders in their field of discipline, not academics.
Preparing clients for leadership in a small business or entrepreneurial venture
40-week program of required and elective workshops.
Small cohort style collaborative learning groups.
Online learning and face-to-face workshops using Zoom or similar conferencing platform.
Capstone business plan project required for advancement to next phase.
Clients move on the accelerator to launch their businesses.

Polk Institute Foundation Accelerator - The accelerator provides additional resources to our clients along with ongoing encouragement, to increase the likelihood of the launch of new ventures, and the success of those new ventures.  Our clients will have access to mentors, collaborative peer support groups, business experts, attorneys, accountants, advisory board members and ongoing education to assist the entrepreneur in getting the business from concept to launch.
