Crowdfunding for Substance Abuse

Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Programs

How does anyone struggling with addictions get or stay sober? Some people find it enough to go to 12-step meetings at their local church or library, but others need more, like counselling, therapy, or spending a period in an addictions treatment facility.

Addictions treatment and recovery programs, whether nonprofits or for profits, are often eligible for grants, but finding and winning a grant can take time. Many nonprofits start fundraising campaigns to get the start-up funding they need and money for scholarships for participants.

"Addicts by nature seem to have a strong need for connection and purpose.  Adding acts of kindness toward others to their daily routine often fulfills their needs for both and lessens their need for pain numbing chemicals," says Tracey Shipley, addictions and recovery specialist.

While you search for a grant, being proactive and putting up your own crowdfunding campaign on YouHelp.com, can help you get the funding you need. YouHelp is a free platform that provides six weeks of assistance with your crowdfunding campaign. Our crowdfunding mentor is available to answer any questions you might have. Then share out the campaign with family, friends and your all your contacts and ask them to spread the word.
