La Guajira is a beautiful region to the north of Colombia, full of magical landscapes and a vast desert, surrounded by the sea, and filled with the native Wayuu's spirit and wisdom.  For years now, the region has been suffering from extreme drought, which has created an environmental crisis, and with it extreme malnutrition, economic depression, heightened corruption; a situation that has proven fatal for indigenous children.

Israel has some of the most remarkable technology and knowledge on water management, environment, and agriculture in the world (especially in the desert). Nonprofit collaborations between Latin America and Israel are shy, and yet to be developed.

Today, more than ever, we need to look into sustainable solutions for the environment, the economy, and the most vulnerable populations that are suffering. La Guajira-Israel is a natural first step in the right direction.  We have the professionals, and the local network to make this happen. We're ready for this, and we need your help!

What We Will Do

We are organizing a preemptive investigation with collaborators on the field in the Baja Guajira (southern region), where circumstances are more optimal and mature. Our aim is to get a 360% view of the situation, which includes assessing potential partners, technical opportunities, and the grassroots narrative. We believe that by helping farmers of the region with technology and knowledge, the water management situation, as well as the local economy will improve, thus organically providing more momentum to solve the crisis.

Preemptive  investigations are critical to  apply the correct strategy in development projects (in this case agricultural and water-related), especially in difficult regions under extreme conditions for three reasons:

1. The first is in order to adequately diagnose the issues, in depth, with a complete, holistic view of what is causing the difficulties. In other words, we must really listen to people on the ground, and assess the reality on the field, before jumping to conclusions.

2. The second is in order to ensure independence, which will help us preserve transparency. A preemptive investigation helps us focus the goals, and avoid further agendas in future collaborations with NGOs or the private sector.

3. The third is in order to effectively write policy reports, and then submit them to relevant organizations and donors.

We need your help in order to carry this investigation out. We wish in turn to be able to create the largest possible impact, and help thousands of people in dire need of assistance.

Join us in our efforts, help us create a new, independent opportunity for the region!
