For 18 years I was abused by my husband who also happens to be a Baptist Pastor.  I lost 80 percent hearing in my right ear and 60 percent in my left ear.  I was left homeless and no one in the church seemed to care about whether  I lived or died.  I tried to commit suicide twice, and each time I was left feeling even more destitute.  After 18 years I finally left my abuser. I left with my child and the clothes off my back.  I started this nonprofit organization called Chosen Outreach Ministries.  The name was chosen because I wanted every person I was able to help to know that they were chosen and handpicked.  Because I know that there are so many women and children who are going through just this very thing, I vowed that I would help each and every person that I could.  I know the very reason abused women stay in abusive relationships. It is because they feel lost and hopeless and afraid.  I’ve vowed to do all I could to help them to know the signs of an abuser.  I want them to be educated to know what to expect and to show them that at least one person is vested in their well-being.  If I can help one person, then my life is not in vain.

I pray that If I help one person, then they help one person and that it catches on like wildfire.  Until then it is my life’s duty to educate and share my story. If I can help save one person from this horrible ordeal I will do just that.  I want every young woman to know that it is not okay for someone to put their hands on another person.   And that If they do, it is not love.  I want to teach them at an early age so they will know their worth.  No one did that for me, and I had to learn the hard way.  God allowed me to write a book about my ordeal and how I was able to escape.

Donations will help the after-school program that educates and help those who are victims of domestic violence. Counseling is provided. It will also supply emergency food and shelter for those in the program.
