Mission/Vision/Purpose The mission of A Class Above Learning Academy, Inc. is to educate all children, regardless of ability or economics, from birth to 5 years old, using differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all children on an individualized level, to prepare them for entry into kindergarten and society.

The vision of A Class Above Learning Academy, Inc. is to educate all children. But, we will specialize in educating children with disabilities and to provide the foundational academic, social, and emotional skills all children need to be prepared for entrance into grade school and beyond.

The History A Class Above Learning Academy, Inc. (ACALA) was founded by Anjeanette Clark in June 2022.  It is founded on the principals that all children can learn even if it is on different terms or at a different rate of speed.

In October 2006, Anjeanette realized that she was faced with a dilemma when she could not find childcare for a child with disabilities whom she could not return to his parents because the parents were afraid to accept him back.  She was working a full-time job & her youngest child was 14 years old.  She thought to herself, “Now, what am I going to do for childcare for this baby?  He has severe disabilities!”  After bouncing around from childcare to day homes, she resolved to have family support because no center or home knew how to deal with his behaviors, screaming, & refusal to eat the foods they prepared.  Anjeanette knew it was time to make a career change by obtaining her master’s degree in special education. Then, started teaching students much like her son.  She was determined to help other parents who were in similar situations.  She has remained in the special education field, while working in underserved areas, for over 13 years now.  Anjeanette’s desire is to help all students learn while concentrating on teaching children foundational skills.

Moreover, her son’s biological parents could not afford to pay for childcare.  And, with 7 children, someone had to remain home to take care of the children.  The father, due to cognitive disabilities, found it difficult to maintain jobs to support his family.  Anjeanette vowed to give back to the community because she had received a blessing when she was able to help this family by accepting the baby into her home & raising him as her own.

The Need A Class Above Learning Academy, Inc. is a nonprofit learning academy that specializes in teaching children with disabilities.  We are in need of funding to purchase a building to house the academy for our children, make modifications and repairs, and pay qualified staff.

We will hire qualified applicants from the neighborhood to help give back to the community and bolster the relationship with the surrounding community & stakeholders. This will empower residents to take pride in being a part of the revitalization of their neighborhood and provide support to poverty-stricken families.  ACALA will accept State of Tennessee childcare funding.
