Summer Fun Fundraising With Geo-Tagging Painted Rocks For YouHelp Campaigns

What could be more fun than playing hide and seek with painted rocks while raising awareness for your fundraiser?

I will tell you what is more fun, “Painting your own rock, snapping a pic, geo-tagging and posting its whereabouts on social media, all while raising money for your project.”

Your group of team members or an entire summer camp, community or senior citizen center, or homeless shelter can all get in on the fun of this unique YouHelp initiative to help you rasie funds.

Decorate the rock to include the name of your YouHelp campaign and a link to the website painted on the bottom of the rock, or affix a sticker with modge podge or glue so that people can “geo-tag” and track them. Acrylic paints work well for rock painting.

YouHelp Rocks is a fun twist on a game that has been gaining attention on the web, where people paint a rocks with inspirational or uplifting messages (aka a “kindness rock”) and leave it somewhere out in nature for someone to find. The person who finds the rock then takes it and re-hides it for someone else to find. People “geo-tag” and track them to share the location of the rock they found or the one they are going to hide. Add a hashtag and post a photo on your social media pages.

The YouHelp Rocks initiative’s fun twist is to: paint the rocks with your crowdfunding campaign’s name, so the person that finds the rock can donate to your organization.

People who find a #YouHelpRock, make a donation to a YouHelp fundraising campaign on and then take a pic and geo-tag where they re-hide the rock.

Below see the oval to copy or to cut and paste onto the bottom of the rock – so anyone who finds your rock will know what to do.

Let’s have some fun this summer and help some great YouHelp crowdfunding campaigns raise some much-needed money for worthy nonprofits and start-up businesses. Send us your photos to add to our website.

You can paint the rocks as an organized activity.  Rock painting in and of itself can be a program that brings in funds for your nonprofit. You provide the supplies: paint, brushes, rocks, and some refreshments, and your constituents create the finished products to place around the neighborhood, raising more funds for your organization.
