The Blanket Project would like to raise $1,000 to ease the suffering of survivors of domestic violence (DV). During this time of COVID-19, the rate of DV has increased dramatically due to confinement, loss of jobs and children being home from school.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States have experienced violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. These statistics are during normal non-pandemic times!
The Blanket Projects' aim is to organize volunteers to prepare, tie, and package blankets that are then distributed to organizations that work directly with these survivors. We've found this is the most direct way to get these blankets to individuals in need.
But we need funds to purchase the materials to make the blankets. Each blanket costs between $10-$15 to make. We also are in need of funding for tools ($500) and to submit our 501(c)(3) application ($275).
