The Mission Statement is "to improve the quality of life for Seniors by offering recreational, educational and social activities, and providing support services for all Hopi Seniors of the Moenkopi Villages, the Hopi Reservation, including special services for those with physical impairments"
The Moenkopi Senior Center, Inc. is a program that provides services to our Hopi Elders and elders from the San Juan Southern Paiute Nation plus the elders from the Navajo Nation.
We provide Home Delivered and Congregate meals, Senior activities such as crafts, exercise, dancing, playing board games, chair volleyball, and health and wellness education classes.
Our Senior Center has been in operation since 2005 except for closing in 2020 through 2022. As a non-profit I have been able to regain some funding from a foundation that has funded out the program from its beginning but has since closed its doors, from HUD - Ross Elderly Grant, Az Dept of Transportation for Capital funding for maintaining our 5310 vehicles, we also have received Cares Act funding from our Hopi Tribe for major cleansing of our Building, furniture, vehicles, to maintain social distancing, wearing masks and hand sanitizing was our main purpose of receiving the funding, we were given in-kind equipment and supplies to help in preparing the kitchen to open so we can once provide hot meals to our elders.
We have provided such needed services to our elders that it has helped them to live longer healthier lifestyles.
