Our STORY

The GREEN KIDS SCIENCE CLUB has been around for over ten years. The program started in Los Angeles Califotina and is fully funded by Mr. James. We work with various community- based organizations and all students involved in the program attend the program at no cost to the students or parents. The program covers a wide range of subject matters such as climate change, global warming, renewable energy, recycling and health science. On the more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) specific subjects we build robots, electronic kits, chemistry projects, introduced the kids to coding and built logo projects with the younger kids ages five to eight. The highlight of the program are the overnight field trips to solar, wind, aquaponics and hydroponics farms. Many of the kids had never been outside of their communities and taking trips of this magnitude was a delight and memories they will cherish for a lifetime.

The GREEN KIDS SCIENCE PROGRAM has so many benefits that lends to a child's overall development. The program places a lot of emphasis on teamwork, networking, building self-esteem, dealing with conflict. We have open discussions dealing with problems that kids face every day, at home, school and in the community where they live. The kids are also taught the importance of giving back and being active in their community. The format of the program gives the kids various choices of involvement from a after school program, Saturday science which is a ten-week 4-hour session.  During the out of school summer months, we conduct six one-week science camps, two a day four-hour session. Since Covid 19 in 2019,2020 and 2021 we conducted Zoom Science with over seventy-five kids involved. This year we are adding a new Saturday program," Bring Your Kid to Science Day" which is a fun filled with all sorts of science activities with interaction between the parent and kid. A day where the parent can bring the child to our Science Discovery Library and have a day of fun building various science projects with their kid which will helps build confidence in the child.

We make learning fun and inspire kids to be the best they can be and bring out their hidden talents and not let those Brilliant Minds Go to Waste. Guest speakers from the science community are brought in to work with students as mentors and assist them with hands on projects. While enrolled in the GREEN KIDS SCIENCE CLUB Program students are awarded points for various point earning programs such as attendance, project dynamics, teamwork, test scores, community involved and points for the Bright Idea Award.

All donations are used one hundred percent for the program operations and program materials. All staff works with the program on a volunteer basis.  We feel that this project is worthy because of the body of work that we have done for over twenty years with no outside funding and before the organization was a 5013c non-profit.
