WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
The drinking water in Townsville, Michigan has become contaminated due to the aging and decayed water pipes. The water poses a threat because of the ecoli which can leak into the water supply and create a widespread sickness to the town. Infants and the elderly are affected the most, and if not fixed in the immediate future, could cause potential death.
HOW WE PLAN TO FIX IT
These water pipes will need to be dug up, removed, and replaced with modern piping by a professional team. This project will take an estimate of 7 days to complete. The community have gathered to nominate Libby's Plumbing Co. to do the labor work, however, funds are needed for 28 feet of 16 inch in diameter pvc pipe.
WHO REALIZED THE NEED
Libby came to become one of the campaign organizers after her youngest daughter fell sick in May last year. After realizing the water pipes were decayed and a threat, not just to her household, but to the whole community, awareness was raised to implement a plan.
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR
So far, all the work on locating which pipes need to be replaced has been found, and narrowed down to just four locations. Funds from the local council of $2,250 have also been obtained to help assist with the drilling of earth. And the young boys scouts are even involved - offering to provide refreshments and iced water to the laborers during the days of the project
The plan aims to take place within 45 days after the YouHelp crowdfunding deadline.
